The online preliminary application process for the 2024-25 academic year undergraduate admissions at Rajshahi University (RU) has been suspended until further notice, as announced by the university administration.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued by Professor Akhtar Hossain Mazumder, Administrator of the Public Relations Office, at around 8:30pm on Saturday.
The press release said: “The initiation of the online preliminary application process for undergraduate/undergraduate (honors) admissions at Rajshahi University for the 2024-2025 academic year, as reported in various media outlets, has been suspended until further notice.”
When asked about the reason for suspending the application process, Professor Akhtar Hossain Mazumder said: “Not everything can always be explained in detail. If it were necessary to disclose the reason, we would have done so.”
In response to whether there was any pressure from teachers, officials, or employees regarding the cancellation of the dependent quota, he said: “We have to adapt to all kinds of situations. For now, the suspension of applications is what matters.”
Earlier, on Wednesday, a notice signed by the university’s Registrar, Professor Dr. Iftikharul Alam Masud, on the university’s website said that the preliminary application process for first-year admissions was scheduled to begin on Sunday.
