Food inflation declined to 10.40% in September from 11.36% in August.
Overall inflation decreased by 0.57% in September compared to August.
On the other hand, inflation in the non-food sector has also come down slightly. Inflation in this sector was 9.74% in August, which decreased to 9.50% in September.
Earlier, July saw the highest inflation in 13 years.
Inflation crossed double digits during the month of the students’ quota reform movement.
Overall inflation rose to 11.66% that month. General inflation was 9.72% last June.
Food inflation rose to 14% in July, which was the highest in 13 years.
Earlier, the last highest food price inflation was in April 2011 at 14.36%.
Since then, food inflation has never risen above 14%. Inflation has been gradually decreasing after July.
